Brides are always looking for the newest trend and every bride wants her wedding to be special and unique. Weddings in 2016 and 2017 are taking a big step into individuality and uniqueness. Let's break them down by category...
Wedding dresses this season and next are taking a walk in whimsy. Bohemian (aka Boho) style brides are making a comeback. Imagine cream and blush hued wedding dresses and off the shoulder styles with flowers in your hair instead of veils.
Dynamic Dress Designs
Dynamic dress designs are also going to be huge in the next few years. Sweetheart necklines are no more. Try a stunning V-neck instead. V-necks are the next big thing in wedding dresses and they actually flatter a lot more figures than a sweetheart neckline. The other daring trend in wedding dresses? Backless wedding gowns. Talk a walk on on the wild side with one or even both of these wedding dress trends.
Back to basics
Buttercream is back! Fancy fondant creations are no more and buttercream is taking the lead again. Without the fancy fondant, you can cut your cake cost greatly.
Naked cakes are also very in. In case you don't know, a naked cake is one with little to know frosting and are simple in design. They may not sound like much but they are simply beautiful. Generally, they are decorated very simply with fresh flowers. They can also save you a lot of money on your cake. (See picture above)
No More Cake?
Since weddings are a little more non-traditional, wedding cakes are doing the same. Wedding couples are ditching the cake for other dessert options such as cobblers, pies, and specialty cookies.
Boho makes another appearance in wedding trends for themes. Family style seating, mismatched vases with unformed bouquets, mercury glass, vintage lace, and colored glass. Think vintage gypsy.
Back to Nature
While barn weddings are still in, the typical rustic is out. Making it's mark is a back to nature theme. Still a lot of wood elements, but also more winding vines and greenery and wildflowers.
With traditional reception seating taking it's leave, the cocktail party is still an ongoing theme. It's a great way to save money on pricier items (think lobster) and gets your guests mingling a lot more. Passed appetizers and drinks give a shot of elegance without the "structure" of the traditional wedding seating.
Simply Elegant and Intimate Gatherings
For those still wanting something more traditional, simple elegance is making a comeback. Real china ware, silver ware, and glasses are taking their place again. Also trending in this category is intimate lighting. Lighting is an excellent way to save money on decor and create an intimate atmosphere for your wedding.
Since nature is trending in wedding themes, neutral tones such as black, grey, and brown are becoming increasingly popular.
Varying shades of the same color are also in. Honestly, this trend has come and gone and it's always made great sense to me because sometimes, matching an exact shade can be difficult. If you have varying shades of the same color, it can make decor a lot simpler.
With the neutral tones as you base, throw in a couple shots of bold color. Muted colors are becoming antiquated. Reds, Blues, Greens... Check out Pantone for an example of these bold color trends.
Varying shades of metals are also in. No metal gets left out in this seasons trending metal colors; gold, silver, copper, brass, and pewter in coordinating tones take center stage. They key is to make it warm and not industrial.
